A practical Essential Fitout for a used HiAce — focused on durable finishes, board storage, a compact kitchen module, and a clean sleeping layout for WA coast trips.
The Brief
A simple, durable weekend setup with storage for boards, basic cooking, and a comfortable sleeping layout.
The Challenge
The van was a used, high-roof HiAce with uneven wall lining and a few minor structural limitations. The owner needed storage for two surfboards, cooking facilities, a comfortable bed, and easy access to everything from outside the van — without making the interior feel cramped or overbuilt.
The Solution
We stripped the interior, re-lined the walls and ceiling, then designed a layout around the board storage requirement. A full-length bed platform runs down one side with pull-out drawers underneath for gear. A compact kitchen module sits at the rear with a small sink, bench space, and a cooktop shelf. The finish is warm and simple — timber veneer cabinetry with a matte panel ceiling.
